Last year on Christmas 7 NCHS TSA members and our chapter advisor partnered up with HOSEA Feed the Homeless at Turner Field for three (3) hours. Our task was to prepare meals for distribution to a crowd well over 2,000.
During our time there, we worked with people from all walks of life – kids, teenagers, adults, and elderly people. We also experienced the harsh reality and unfortunate circumstances of the many, many homeless people that were on hand just to get a hot meal.
When it was time for us to go, we really didn't want to leave. Mind you, this is Christmas were volunteering on, a day where most kids are up tearing up wrapping paper and cherishing their newly obtaining gifts.
At the end of the day however, we made a lot of people happy and learned a valuable lesson – to be thankful for all that you have. That's something that just can't be taught in the classroom.
